Energy Audit

As you may be aware there is an EU funded drive to reduce the reliance on imported gas. This means that the governments of both Latvia and Lithuania have created attractive environments for companies who have renewable technologies or who wish to invest in renewable energy plants.  They are also making substantial funding available to Municipalities and Private Companies who want to cut their energy costs.

In the next month or so a  new funding stream which is to be released this year to support Energy efficiency, and small and medium scale power generation.  The total of the funding will be 400 million Euro.

The Energy Saving programme will be aimed at private companies and municipalities, it will allow for the auditing of current energy usage and then finance programmes which will reduce the usage of power.  This will provide excellent opportunities for companies who undertake energy audits (there are a shortage of these companies in Latvia) and also companies who supply products that can be used to cut energy usage.

The Energy Generation programme will be aimed at a similar audience, and will help fund the development of small scale renewable generation for Municipal buildings, Science Parks, industrial parks, private companies etc.  This will offer excellent opportunities for companies from the UK who can advise on the appropriate solutions and also for companies involved in the manufacture or sale of Wind, Biomass. Biogas or Solar energy generation equipment.

There are expected to be 70 million euro’s of test calls this year, and then a full role out in Q4 and next year.  The exact details of the programme are still being finalized, and there is still scope to have input into the details.
